Botox, Dysport and Xeomim

BOTOX® Cosmetic is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines, and forehead lines in adult patients. Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin, a substance that temporarily relaxes muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It’s commonly used in cosmetic procedures, especially on the forehead, around the eyes, and in the neck area.

What is the Difference Between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles. Here are some key differences:

Active Ingredient: Both contain botulinum toxin type A, but they are manufactured by different companies (Botox by Allergan and Dysport by Ipsen).

Onset of Action: Dysport may start to show results slightly faster, often within 2-5 days, while Botox can take about 3-7 days.

Diffusion: Dysport tends to spread more in the injection area, which can be advantageous for larger treatment areas, but may require more precise placement to avoid affecting nearby muscles.

Dosing: The units of measurement differ; Dysport units are generally considered less potent than Botox units, so a higher number of Dysport units may be needed for similar effects.

Duration of Effects: Both typically last 3-6 months, but some users report varying longevity.

Choosing between them usually depends on individual preference, treatment area, and provider recommendations.
